Cold Injury (HB)

Cold injuries are a class of environmental emergencies localized to specific areas of a patient–opposed to hypothermia, which affects the whole patient.

These injuries can occur without the patient knowing, especially if they disregard earlier symptoms. Cold injuries can lead to permanent disability, including amputation of the affected area, depending on the severity.

At the end of this lesson, you will have the skills and knowledge to be able to handle local cold injuries in your patients.

You will be able to identify and treat frostnip, frostbite, and Raynaud’s syndrome.
